Title: Project Engineer - PV & BESS
Location: Remote, Germany (office based in Berlin)
About the Role
Our client develops, engineers and delivers utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This person will be the individual who turns a project opportunity into a solid, priced, buildable offer. Working from the designs and layouts provided by our planning engineers, you own the technical and commercial preparation of the proposals for solar and BESS projects, and you are in direct contact with the suppliers and contractors whose prices drive the business case. Alongside the proposal work, you support the ongoing projects in execution.
Responsibilities
Prepare technical and commercial proposals for utility-scale PV and BESS projects - from first concept to final quotation
Issue and manage RFQs to suppliers: modules, inverters, PCS, battery containers, mounting systems, cabling, MV/HV equipment, transformers
Obtain and compare quotations from EPC, BoP and civil/electrical contractors; challenge scope and pricing
Build and maintain bills of quantity, CAPEX models and price benchmarks; keep the cost database current
Prepare system layouts, yield and sizing inputs together with the engineering team
Support grid connection and compliance topics (VDE-AR-N 4105 / 4110 / 4120, grid operator requirements)
Evaluate suppliers on price, lead time, bankability and warranty terms
Support projects already in execution: procurement follow-up, change orders, cost tracking and technical clarifications with suppliers and contractors
Experience Requirements
2–4 years of professional experience in solar PV, battery storage, electrical engineering or plant construction
Solid understanding of PV and/or BESS system components and how they price out
Confident with Excel-based cost modelling; ideally PVsyst / PV*SOL, AutoCAD or comparable tools
Commercial instinct: you enjoy negotiating with suppliers and you know a padded quote when you see one
Structured, self-directed working style - you close open points instead of forwarding them
Native German and English, both fluent in a business context
