📢 WE ARE HIRING – PROJECT ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL)
JAYAM ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS is looking for a technically strong and hands-on Project Engineer – Electrical to join our team.
🔹 Role: Project Engineer – Electrical
🔹 Experience: 3–7 Years
🔹 Location: Chennai / OMR
🔹 Industry: Industrial Electrical Projects / Electrical Contracting
🔹 Site Travel: Required as per project requirements
🔧 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be responsible for supporting projects from initial planning through execution, testing & commissioning and completion.
Project Execution
• Plan and supervise industrial electrical project activities
• Coordinate site manpower, technicians and subcontractors
• Ensure execution as per drawings, specifications and project schedule
• Coordinate with clients/site engineers
• Monitor daily progress and resolve site-level technical issues
BOQ & Estimation – IMPORTANT
• Read and interpret Electrical SLDs, layouts and schematics
• Prepare and verify BOQs from drawings and site requirements
• Calculate cable, tray, earthing and other material quantities
• Identify missing materials/accessories in customer BOQs
• Prepare material requirement lists
• Identify variations/additional works
• Support project costing and quotation preparation
Material & Procurement Coordination
• Plan materials in advance based on project requirements
• Coordinate with Purchase/Vendors for material availability
• Verify materials against BOQ/PO requirements
• Coordinate material inspection/testing wherever required
Testing & Commissioning
• Coordinate electrical testing and commissioning activities
• Support cable, panel, breaker, relay, earthing and other electrical testing
• Ensure proper documentation of test results and completion activities
Documentation & Billing
• Maintain daily progress reports
• Prepare measurement sheets and material reconciliation
• Support RA/final billing
• Maintain testing, inspection and completion records
🎓 QUALIFICATION
• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech – Electrical Engineering
• 3–7 years of relevant experience
• Experience in industrial electrical projects / electrical contracting preferred

✔ HT/LT Electrical Projects
✔ HT/LT Panels, MCC/PCC
✔ ACB / VCB / MCCB / MCB
✔ Transformers
✔ Cable laying & termination
✔ Cable trays & supports
✔ Earthing systems
✔ APFC / DB / Power Distribution
✔ Testing & Commissioning
✔ Industrial Shutdown Projects
✔ Electrical Maintenance / EPC Projects
💻 SOFTWARE SKILLS
• MS Excel – Mandatory
• AutoCAD – Preferred
• MS Word / PDF drawing handling
• Basic project planning & documentation
👤 THE RIGHT CANDIDATE SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
Read the drawing → Prepare the BOQ → Plan materials → Coordinate procurement → Execute the project → Test & Commission → Measure → Complete the project.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the project, not someone who only supervises manpower.
🚫 THIS ROLE MAY NOT SUIT YOU IF:
• You have only theoretical electrical knowledge
• You have only manpower supervision experience
• You are not comfortable reading electrical drawings
• You have no practical BOQ/material planning experience
• You require constant supervision for site execution
