🚀 Desktop Engineer – Role Overview
A Desktop Engineer / Desktop Support Engineer plays a critical role in keeping an organization’s day-to-day IT environment running smoothly.
The role typically involves:
🖥️ Desktop & Laptop Support
• Hardware troubleshooting and maintenance
• Windows 10/11 installation, configuration and troubleshooting
• Support for desktops, laptops, monitors and peripherals
💻 Application & Software Support
• Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 support
• Software installation, updates and patch management
• Troubleshooting application and performance issues
🔐 Active Directory & User Management
• User account creation, modification and deactivation
• Password resets and account unlocking
• Domain joining, security groups and basic Group Policy support
• Microsoft 365 / Entra ID support
🌐 Network & Connectivity Support
• LAN/Wi-Fi troubleshooting
• TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP basics
• VPN troubleshooting
• Coordination with Network Engineers for complex issues
📦 IT Asset Management
• Hardware and software inventory
• Asset allocation and tracking
• Laptop/desktop refresh and replacement support
🖨️ Printer & Peripheral Support
• Printer and scanner configuration
• Troubleshooting printing and scanning issues
