Role Description The Social Media Intern role is an on-site internship based in Mumbai. The intern will support Ugam’s communication and outreach efforts by creating and scheduling social media posts, assisting in managing the organization’s presence on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, and monitoring engagement and responses. Day-to-day tasks include drafting captions and stories, collecting content from program activities, coordinating with the program team for updates, and helping design basic visual assets using available tools. The intern will also assist in tracking performance metrics, brainstorming campaign ideas aligned with Ugam’s mission, and maintaining a content calendar. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and an opportunity to contribute to initiatives that empower adolescent girls.
Qualifications
Ability to create clear, engaging written content for social media, with strong grammar and attention to detail.
Basic familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X) and understanding of how audiences engage on these channels.
Comfort using simple design or content creation tools (e.g., Canva or similar) to produce visuals, posts, and stories.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage a content schedule, follow up with team members, and meet deadlines.
Interest in education, youth leadership, gender equity, and working with community-focused organizations.
Ability to work collaboratively on-site in Mumbai, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and adapt to a dynamic environment.
Pursuing or recently completed studies in communications, media, social work, education, or a related field is beneficial.
Previous internship, volunteer, or project experience in social media, content creation, or nonprofit work is an advantage but not mandatory.
