Hiring: Lead Business Analyst – Global Payments Operations (GPS)
We are looking for an experienced Lead Business Analyst / Discovery Lead with strong exposure to Payments Operations and Service Journeys within the Financial Services domain. The role will lead discovery across priority Global Payment Services (GPS) Operations journeys, identify improvement opportunities, benchmark against industry practices, and help define and embed operational Gold Standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead discovery across priority Payments Operations and Service journeys through stakeholder interviews, workshops, process shadowing and MI/data analysis.
• Map current-state payment journeys and operational processes, including exceptions, hand-offs, dependencies and controls.
• Identify operational pain points, process gaps, rework, inefficiencies and control risks.
• Conduct market and industry research to identify relevant trends, benchmarks and best practices across payments and service operations.
• Define practical Gold Standards, including SOPs, standard ways of working and service standards.
• Work closely with Operations, Risk & Controls, Change and Technology stakeholders to validate recommendations and secure alignment/sign-off.
• Develop a prioritised improvement backlog based on business impact, implementation effort and risk.
• Define measurable success criteria, KPIs and approaches for tracking improvement outcomes.
• Support adoption of new standards through enablement materials, process documentation and ways of working.
Essential Experience & Skills
• Strong Business Analysis / Discovery experience within Payments, Transaction Banking, Payment Operations or Financial Services.
• Good understanding of operational/service journeys and process improvement.
• Strong process and journey mapping capabilities.
• Experience facilitating workshops and discovery sessions with senior and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to translate findings into practical SOPs, operating standards and improvement initiatives.
• Experience using operational MI, quality data and other evidence to validate issues and measure outcomes.
• Ability to conduct market/benchmark research and translate external insights into actionable recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills across Operations, Risk & Controls, Change and Technology.
Preferred Domain Exposure
Exposure to areas such as Global Payments, Cross-Border Payments, Transaction Banking, Payment Operations, SWIFT, ISO 20022, Payment Investigations/Exceptions, Payment Controls or Operations Transformation would be advantageous.
Ideal Candidate Profile
An experienced Payments BA who can go beyond requirements gathering—someone capable of understanding an operational journey end-to-end, challenging existing processes, using evidence and external benchmarks, and helping stakeholders define and implement a better target operating standard.
