Are you brilliant with people, commercially minded and someone who knows what great PR and marketing looks like?
We’re looking for a mid-level PR Account Manager to join The Pack at Harvey & Hugo.
This isn’t a junior role, and it isn’t a role where you’ll spend all day sitting behind a laptop writing press releases.
We’re looking for someone confident, highly organised and naturally brilliant with people. Someone who can walk into a client meeting, build rapport quickly, understand what the client really needs and become a trusted adviser to them.
You’ll know enough about PR, marketing, social media and content to recognise excellent work, shape strategy, challenge thinking and guide both our clients and our creative team.
Most importantly, you’ll make our clients feel looked after, understood and valued.
Put simply, your mission is to ensure our clients are not just happy but raving fans of Harvey & Hugo by delivering exceptional work.

The role
You will report directly to our relationship director to manage a portfolio of clients as well as being the direct relationship lead with some of them.
You’ll understand their businesses, ambitions, challenges and personalities, then make sure the Harvey & Hugo team is delivering work that genuinely helps them achieve their goals.
You’ll be visible. You’ll attend meetings, events and shoots. You’ll pick up the phone. You’ll spot opportunities before clients ask for them.
And you’ll make sure that everything leaving Harvey & Hugo is on brief and something we’re proud to put our name to.
Your responsibilities will include:
Project management of client accounts
Regular reporting and a trusted safe pair of hands to relationship director
Building strong, trusted relationships with your direct clients
Becoming a valued adviser rather than simply a supplier
Understanding clients’ businesses, objectives, audiences and commercial priorities
Creating and directing PR, marketing and communications strategies
Turning client objectives into clear briefs for our creative team
Project managing work across PR, social media, content, design, video and other services
Reviewing, proofreading and quality-checking work before it reaches clients
Knowing what “good” looks like across the different services we provide
Keeping projects, deadlines, budgets and monthly client hours on track
Monitoring KPIs and turning reports into meaningful conversations with clients
Preparing for proactive quarterly reviews and continually bringing fresh ideas to the table
Spotting opportunities where other Harvey & Hugo services could add value
Supporting new business pitches and proposals where needed
Smoothly onboarding new clients into The Pack
Maintaining relationships with previous clients and staying front of mind
Using AI intelligently to improve efficiency and quality, without ever compromising client trust or replacing human judgement and creativity.
Keeping abreast of developments across PR, marketing, social media and communications
Helping the wider team continually raise the bar
Who we’re looking for
We’re not necessarily looking for someone who ticks every conceivable box.
But we are looking for someone experienced enough to hit the ground running.
You’ll probably recognise yourself in many of these:
You have significant experience in PR, communications or marketing
Agency experience would be a major advantage
You have a strong track record of building and retaining client relationships
You’re confident dealing with senior clients and stakeholders
You have excellent commercial awareness
You understand PR and marketing strategy, not just delivery
You can look at a piece of work and instinctively know whether it’s good enough
You have exceptional proofreading and attention to detail
You’re confident giving constructive feedback and directing creative work
You’re extremely organised and comfortable managing lots of moving parts
You take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
You’re proactive, dependable and comfortable making decisions
You communicate brilliantly both online and face-to-face
You’re personable, positive and able to build rapport with all kinds of people
You’re adaptable and happy working in a fast-moving agency environment
You’re commercially minded and comfortable identifying opportunities to grow client accounts
Strong connections within the North East business community would be a bonus.
Photography, filming or content creation skills would also be very welcome — but they’re not essential.
You will need to be able to travel independently, as being visible and present with our clients is an important part of the role.
