Class Time: Saturday and Sunday 8am-6pm November 7th and 8th; and Saturday and Sunday. November 13th and 14th.
Period of Performance: October 20 - November 19th. Preparation to take place prior to class
Location: San Marcos, California
Compensation and Summary: $8,000 for preparation and delivery of 4 days of digital skills trainings. Cohorts 1 and 2: 8am - 6pm on Saturday November 8 and Sunday November 9th; Cohorts 3 and 4: 8am-6pm on Saturday November 13th and Sunday 14th (Two weekends 8am-6pm).
About Data Elevates: Data Elevates (DE) is a social enterprise building modern data systems and skills in underserved communities around the world. We work with social impact organizations, educational institutions, and individuals to strengthen capacity for data use and data-driven decision making. Our team works with governments and social impact partners in three primary areas: 1) community data skills training programs, 2) organizational development for data use, and 3) product development. Our work is cross-sectional, in that we support health, food systems, education, and other program areas through our focus on data-driven decision making, and we work on both international and US-based programs. About the Supply Chain Analytics Bootcamp:
The project addresses limited access to early data and STEM exposure among high school students, which can hinder college and career readiness in high-growth fields. Using a short, cohort-based training model, the program introduces students to foundational data analytics skills through applied supply chain scenarios. By connecting data skills to real-world operational challenges, the project increases student engagement, builds analytical and teamwork skills, and supports early pathways into college and in-demand STEM careers.
Consultant Role Summary: DE seeks a highly motivated Digital Skills Trainer to facilitate and deliver the Supply Chain Analytics Bootcamp. The consultant will help in the curriculum and training materials development. The Digital Skills Trainer will handle a variety of activities, including supporting curriculum and materials development, and leading classroom teaching.
The Digital Skills Trainer will be responsible for leading four in-person, cohort-based training sessions for high school students (grades 9–12) in San Marcos, California, delivered across two weekends from 8am to 6pm each day. The Trainer will also support participant engagement, progress, and program completion throughout the bootcamp. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting in-person, hands-on training classes and working as a faculty member, adjunct faculty member, teacher, or trainer at a high school, university, community college, or other educational institution
This is a temporary, project-based consulting engagement. The consultant will operate as an independent contractor (1099), is not eligible for benefits, and will retain discretion over work methods within the agreed scope of services. The consultant is free to provide services to other clients during the term of this engagement.
Scope of Consulting Services
Training Facilitation
Develop and refine curriculum content, instructional materials, and learning activities aligned with program objectives
Lead and facilitate in-person training for high school students data analysis and data visualization, consistent with agreed-upon program outcomes
Guide participants through hands-on activities and applied learning exercises
Foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive training environment
Facilitate discussions and encourage participant interaction and collaboration
Provide general instructional support to participants during training sessions and throughout the program
Support participant engagement and learning during sessions
Maintain clear communication with participants regarding session expectations and learning objectives
Program Coordination & Program Improvement Support
Provide feedback and recommendations to DE project staff to support improvements to curriculum, facilitation methods, and cohort processes
Coordinate with DEs staff to ensure smooth session delivery
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
The Trainer must be available from 8am-6pm in San Marcos, CA, on Saturday, November 7th; Sunday, November 8th, Saturday, November 14th; and Sunday November 15th.
Minimum of 4 years of high school or college teaching experience,
Experience teaching in the areas of data, technology, or computer science
Strong in-person teaching and facilitation skills
Strong communication, operations, and organizational skills
Fluency in English
Highly Valued:
Experience using Scratch and Teachable Machine
Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools and applied use of AI technologies
Experience using Microsoft Excel for data cleaning, analysis, and reporting
Understanding of supply chain concepts and examples
Graduate degree in a relevant field such as Education, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence or equivalent practical experience
Proficiency in Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms
