Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Reliability, Security & Architecture to provide technical stewardship over a business-critical internal platform that supports quote tracking, operational dashboards, carrier procurement, and shipment automation.
The platform has been developed iteratively using an AI-assisted development workflow and is becoming increasingly central to the business. We are looking for a senior technical professional who can provide the engineering judgment, reliability practices, security oversight, and architectural guidance needed to ensure the platform remains stable, secure, recoverable, and maintainable as it continues to evolve.
Responsibilities
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Own and continuously improve the platform's Recovery Time Objective (RTO), currently approximately 24 hours for a complete rebuild, with a target progression toward under one hour and eventually minutes.
Design, implement, and maintain reliable backup and recovery strategies for production systems.
Build and maintain redundant infrastructure and recovery environments.
Establish documented disaster recovery procedures and ensure they remain current as the platform evolves.
Security & Risk Management
Implement and maintain automated security scanning within the CI/CD pipeline, including open-source dependency and vulnerability scanning.
Monitor, prioritize, and remediate security findings.
Apply production security hardening practices across infrastructure, applications, dependencies, and deployment processes.
Automated Testing & Quality
Expand and maintain automated test coverage across the platform.
Establish automated testing as a required quality gate before production releases.
Develop testing strategies that protect existing functionality as new AI-generated features are introduced.
Monitor test coverage, reliability, execution time, and pass rates.
Code Review & Architecture
Review AI-generated and human-written code for security, scalability, maintainability, reliability, and architectural risks.
Identify technical issues that may not be apparent to non-engineering stakeholders or AI-assisted development workflows.
Provide practical guidance on when an implementation is appropriate versus when it requires refactoring or architectural redesign.
Establish and maintain sensible engineering standards without unnecessarily slowing product iteration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field)
4+ years of relevant work experience as a Software engineer, developper, solutions engineer,
Advanced English Level
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#/.NET, Java, or Go.
Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals, including automated testing, regression testing, test coverage, and CI/CD quality gates.
Experience reviewing and assessing production code for scalability, maintainability, reliability, and security.
Experience working with modern software development and deployment practices.
Comfortable working within an AI-assisted development environment, including reviewing, validating, and guiding AI-generated code.
Strong understanding of production reliability and incident prevention/recovery.
Nice to Have
Experience in logistics, freight, transportation, or TMS environments.
Familiarity with logistics technology and integrations such as Tye, DAT, Truckstop, EDI, or carrier procurement platforms.
Experience with Microsoft SSO, RBAC, and identity/access management.
Experience designing systems with high availability and rapid disaster recovery requirements.
Experience working in lean, startup, or founder-led environments where engineering processes are still being established.
