Role Description The Carpet Installer is responsible for measuring, cutting, and installing a variety of carpet types in residential and commercial spaces, ensuring clean finishes and secure fittings. Day-to-day tasks include preparing subfloors, removing existing flooring when required, laying carpet padding, installing carpet using appropriate tools and techniques, and trimming and seaming for a precise fit. The role also involves inspecting completed work, addressing minor repairs or adjustments, maintaining tools and equipment, and following safety and quality guidelines. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, working closely with project supervisors, designers, and other installation professionals to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to customer specifications.
Qualifications
Proven experience in carpet installation or flooring work, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing carpets.
Ability to read and interpret floor plans or installation instructions, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of surface preparation, use of adhesives and underlays, and basic repair techniques for carpets and subfloors.
Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Commitment to safe work practices and proper use of hand tools, power tools, and protective equipment.
Strong time management skills and reliability in meeting project deadlines and quality standards.
Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with team members and clients.
Prior experience in interior fit-out, flooring, or related trades is preferred; vocational training or certification in flooring installation is an advantage.
