Duties
Perform high-speed cell sorting on behalf of biomedical researchers using instruments such as the BD FACSAria Fusion, BD FACSymphony S6, and Sony MA900 in a Containment Level 2 laboratory.
Support the operation and maintenance of analytical flow cytometers, including the LSRFortessa, FACSymphony A3, and FACSymphony A5 SE.
Perform routine instrument quality control and maintenance, including daily calibration, fluidics and electronics checks
Train graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, research technologists, and other facility users in the safe and effective operation of analytical flow cytometers.
Provide guidance and training in flow cytometry data analysis using FlowJo and other specialized software packages.
Provide technical support to facility users, including experimental guidance and instrument troubleshooting, while fostering effective relationships with researchers and other clients.
Support facility operations by maintaining safe laboratory practices, evaluating new and alternative cytometry techniques, and ensuring appropriate backup and management of facility data.
At minimum, a Bachelors degree in biomedical sciences or recognized equivalent required
Masters is preferred
At minimum, three (3) years of experience with a variety of flow cytometry applications, preferably on newer digital analytical flow cytometers, and with flow cytometric software such as Diva and FlowJo
Experience operating a FACSAria or other cell sorter preferred
Ability to manage multiple priorities and a demanding schedule
Ability to work within a busy core facility with tight deadlines
Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Exceptional customer service skills
Strong team player with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
