Computer Vision Engineer (Mid-Level)

Job Overview
We are looking for a Computer Vision Engineer (Mid-Level) with solid technical expertise in computer vision, real-time object detection and tracking, and video model inference. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, training, and deploying models for automated camera framing and highlight generation in live sports broadcasts. Your main function will be optimizing, monitoring, and maintaining production models to guarantee high-quality performance and low latency under real-world broadcasting conditions.
Main Responsibilities
Remote Operation and Monitoring: Remotely monitor models in production across various venues and lighting conditions, correcting failures and model drift in real time.
Model and Production Management: Design, train, and optimize detection and tracking models for players, balls, or pucks, as well as build automated camera framing at broadcast quality.
Support and Issue Resolution: Build tooling that enables operations staff to diagnose and resolve technical issues during live events.
Operational Communication: Actively collaborate with streaming, platform, product, and support teams to meet the needs of clients and partners.
Quality Control and Testing: Define evaluation metrics that reflect the viewer experience and optimize real-time inference for GPU hardware and edge devices.
Availability and Compliance: Strictly commit to required operational windows, including availability during peak season evenings and weekends.
Technical Documentation and Data Management: Manage the full data loop (capture, annotation, versioning) and document technical processes to maintain the pipeline.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Audiovisual & CV Technical Expertise: Proven experience shipping Computer Vision models to production. Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, object detection/multi-object tracking, and real-time video processing with OpenCV, FFmpeg, or GStreamer.
Operational Management: Experience optimizing models (latency, compute, bandwidth Limits) and handling messy real-world data (occlusions, motion blur, variable lighting).
Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure and handling critical incidents during live events.
Communication and Support: Excellent written communication skills to interact with internationally distributed teams.
Languages: Fluent command of English (spoken and written); working knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
Schedule & Availability: Flexible, outcome-based schedule, with availability to cover evening and weekend events as required by the calendar.
Compensation and Job Details
Salary Range: $1,200 – $2,800 USD monthly (Negotiable based on experience).
Seniority Level: Mid-Level.
Contract Type: Independent contractor / Full-time.
Work Location: 100% Remote.
