Role Description The Social Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Cannanore, focused on providing direct support to individuals, families, and communities. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting client assessments, developing care or support plans, and connecting clients with appropriate services such as healthcare, counseling, education, and financial assistance. The Social Worker will facilitate individual and group sessions, provide crisis intervention when needed, and advocate for clients with relevant institutions and authorities. The role involves maintaining accurate case records, monitoring client progress, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and community partners. The Social Worker will also participate in outreach activities, awareness programs, and community development initiatives aligned with Oru Idam’s mission.
Qualifications
Strong counseling, case management, and client advocacy skills, with the ability to support individuals and families facing diverse challenges.
Ability to conduct assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate services with community resources, public agencies, and partner organizations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, and the ability to build trust across diverse backgrounds.
Organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate records, reporting, and follow-up on client cases and program activities.
Demonstrated empathy, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory practice in all interactions.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience in community-based work, non-profit organizations, or social services settings is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in local languages and familiarity with the social and cultural context of Cannanore is an advantage.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team, respond to urgent situations, and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
