Author Consultant

Kirkus Media is hiring an Author Consultant with sales experience and a passion for books to join our team remotely. Ideal candidates will have 2-3 years’ experience in media or the book industry, proven success in a sales or marketing environment, and a foundational understanding of publishing.
Kirkus is best known for publishing Kirkus Reviews, America’s leading book review magazine, which has served the publishing and film industries since 1933. This position will help independent authors build their careers and promote their books with marketing services that deliver results across print, website, email, and podcast platforms. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, organized individual who can work independently and provide an exceptional phone/Zoom sales experience.
Responsibilities
· Proactive email and phone outreach to authors who have been reviewed by Kirkus
· Diligent pipeline management and maintenance of internal sales workflows
· Hosting virtual meetings with authors to educate, consult, and sell
· Maintaining solid customer relationships by handling questions and concerns with heart, professionalism, and speed
· Communicating and working seamlessly with sales, creative, and marketing teams to create and deliver a successful customer experience
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
· 2-3 years professional experience, preferably in sales
· Project management and excellent problem-solving skills
· Customer service experience
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a fantastic telephone manner
· Impeccable organization skills with the ability to effectively time/task/priority-manage oneself
· Natural initiative and comfort with independent, remote work
· Ability to work well with others in a remote, small business atmosphere
· Quick learning and adaptability skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google documents and sheets, and a natural aptitude to learn new software and CMS programs

Salary Range: $50K plus bonus/commission potential
