Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing payroll on a regular schedule, maintaining employee payroll records, and ensuring timely payment for all team members. Daily activities include validating time and attendance data, managing deductions, responding to employee payroll inquiries, and coordinating with HR and Finance on changes such as new hires, terminations, and compensation updates. The role also includes handling garnishments, assisting with payroll tax reporting and compliance, and working with payroll service providers to resolve any issues. The Payroll Specialist will follow established procedures, maintain confidentiality of payroll data, and support process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Experience in Payroll Administration and Payroll Processing, with the ability to manage recurring payroll cycles accurately and on time.
Knowledge of Payroll Taxes and familiarity with Payroll Services platforms or systems used to process and report payroll.
Understanding of Garnishments, including proper calculation, setup, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Strong attention to detail, data integrity, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote setting.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and payroll/HRIS software; experience with cloud-based systems is beneficial.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with distributed teams.
Prior payroll experience and knowledge of relevant labor and tax regulations; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
