Overview
Our client, a global industrial technology manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Senior SQE). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that purchased materials, components, and outsourced manufacturing services meet company quality requirements, applicable industry standards, and customer specifications. The Senior SQE will proactively manage supplier performance, conduct audits, validate material and process compliance, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within one of the countries listed above.
The selected suppliers primarily support components and subassemblies for a limited portfolio of products within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position will be co-located at the facility of a key supplier in the country of hire, working closely with supplier personnel and internal stakeholders to support quality, compliance, and operational objectives.

Responsibilities
Supplier Qualification & Development
Conduct supplier audits (process, product, and quality system audits) and create follow-up action plans.
Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, OTD, NCR trends) and lead supplier improvement initiatives.
Evaluate and recommend for approval new suppliers, ensuring compliance with ASME Section VIII, API 661, API 660, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
Outgoing Material & Fabrication Quality Assurance
Review supplier documentation including MTRs, weld procedures (WPS/PQR), NDE reports, dimensional reports, coatings certifications, and pressure test records.
Ensure supplied materials (tubes, fins, headers, structural steel, fans, gearboxes, motors) meet technical and mechanical specifications required for ACHE manufacturing.
Perform post-production pre-shipping inspection activities and establish inspection plans for critical components.
Verify outbound shipments against packing lists, packing standards, and inspection & test plan (ITP) requirements prior to release; confirm preservation, marking, and shipping documentation are complete and code-compliant.
Nonconformance Management & Corrective Actions
Lead root cause analyses using 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and other problem-solving tools.
Issue and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Work closely with engineering, procurement, and production to disposition nonconforming materials.
Product and Process Quality Support
Participate in design reviews, supplier kick-off meetings, and pre-production or pre-inspection meetings.
Support qualification of special processes (welding, brazing, NDE, coatings, machining).
Review and approve supplier ITPs, QCPs, WPS/PQR, NDE procedures, coating procedures, and testing plans.
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure supplier documentation packages (CMTRs, hydrostatic test records, coating DFT reports, weld maps, NDE reports) comply with project and code requirements.
Maintain supplier quality records and contribute to internal and external audit activities.
The role requires adherence to all occupational health and safety regulations applicable in the country of employment. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field (required).
5–7 years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or welding/metallurgy experience—preferably in ACHE, pressure vessels, or heavy fabrication industry.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1, API 661, API 660, TEMA standards, and relevant NDE methods.
Experience with welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW) and ability to interpret WPS/PQR/Welder qualifications.
Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, BOMs, ITPs, and material specifications.
Strong understanding of metallurgy, coatings, heat treatment, pressure testing, and fabrication processes.
Proficient with root-cause analysis tools and quality management systems (ISO 9001).
Soft Skills
Business-level professional fluency in English, written and spoken; required for technical documentation review and daily communication with US management.
Native or full professional fluency in the local language of the country of hire (Korean, Vietnamese, or appropriate Indian language for the supplier’s region), required for shop-floor and supplier engineering interaction.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage high part production volumes, multiple suppliers and deadlines.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive problem solver.
Comfortable with some travel to supplier sites.
Work Environment
This role operates from office space located at a key supplier facility within the country of hire. The position utilizes standard office equipment and requires close collaboration with supplier personnel and internal stakeholders.
When working in a manufacturing environment, employees are required to comply with all applicable site-specific health, safety, and environmental requirements, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include hearing protection, safety eyewear, and safety footwear, as required by local regulations and facility policies.

While performing duties of this job, the employee in this position might remain stationary for long periods of time, while operating a computer and other office machinery. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access document storage and operate office machinery.
The employee might occasionally lift or move objects up to 11 kilograms (approximately 25 pounds). On occasion, the employee may be required to visit the shop that is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, indefinite-term position. Standard office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, aligned with the host supplier’s schedule. Because of a global team, the role requires one to two regularly scheduled early-morning or late-evening calls per week to maintain overlap.
Travel
Approximately 15–25% domestic travel to supplier sites within the country of hire. Occasional regional travel within Asia may also be required. Incidental travel to the United States is expected (typically 1–3 weeks in aggregate per year for training, audits, or kick-off meetings); visa eligibility and tax implications will be coordinated in advance.
