Job Title: Tax Attorney - Tax Controversy

Base Salary: $140,000-$180,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
We are hiring a Tax Attorney for a well-established boutique tax controversy law firm.
This role is for an attorney who enjoys representing taxpayers before the IRS and state taxing authorities. You'll manage a variety of federal and state tax controversy matters from start to finish, working directly with clients and handling meaningful legal work in a fully remote environment.
Must-Have Experience
We're looking for an attorney with 5+ years of tax experience, with a strong background in hands-on tax controversy and tax resolution.
You must have:
Active U.S. Bar license (California preferred, but not required)
Hands-on experience with IRS collections and resolution matters, including Offers in Compromise, Installment Agreements, Appeals, and/or similar matters
Experience representing taxpayers before the IRS
Experience handling federal tax controversy and tax resolution matters
Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage matters independently while working remotely during Pacific Time business hours
What You Will Do
Represent individuals and businesses in federal and state tax controversy matters
Communicate and negotiate directly with the IRS and state taxing authorities
Handle Offers in Compromise, Installment Agreements, Penalty Abatement requests, and other tax resolution matters
Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, correspondence, motions, and other legal documents
Manage client matters from initial consultation through final resolution
Develop legal strategy alongside an experienced tax controversy team
Build trusted relationships with clients while guiding them through complex tax matters

Compensation
Base salary is $140,000-$180,000, depending on experience.
Compensation will be based on your experience, background, and overall qualifications.
