Lead Specialist, Financial Analysis - Business Analysis & Control

Provide advanced financial analysis, performance management, and finance transformation support for the FP&A organization. Independently lead complex analyses and assigned workstreams, delivering actionable insights across U.S. GAAP, statutory, capital, and management reporting while improving Finance processes, data quality, reporting automation, and analytical capabilities. Collaborate with FP&A, Actuarial, Capital Management, Investments, Technology, and business partners to execute Finance priorities. Apply modern finance platforms, AWS-based data solutions, Power BI, and other analytics tools to improve reporting efficiency, strengthen data governance, and support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Controls
Analyze financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
Develop forecasts, scenario analyses, management reporting, and performance metrics to support planning, resource allocation, and business decisions.
Maintain effective financial controls, governance, documentation, and compliance processes; identify and resolve data or reporting issues.
Identify and implement process, automation, and reporting improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and transparency.
Serve as a subject-matter resource for financial data, reporting tools, analytical methods, and FP&A processes.
FP&A Transformation
Contribute to Finance process engineering initiatives that simplify, standardize, and automate planning, forecasting, management reporting, and performance management.
Assess end-to-end workflows, document requirements, and recommend solutions that reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve scalability.
Coordinate assigned transformation workstreams and partner with Technology, Data, Actuarial, and Operations through design, testing, implementation, and adoption.
Partner with data and technology teams to develop and support Finance data solutions, including cloud-based repositories, AWS data lake environments, and integrated reporting architectures.
Develop and maintain scalable financial data models that support consistent planning, forecasting, reporting, analytics, and performance management.
Support data governance, lineage, reconciliation, and quality standards to improve reporting reliability and decision-making.
Develop executive dashboards, management reporting, and self-service analytics using Power BI and other data visualization tools.
Translate complex financial and operational data into clear dashboards, scorecards, and performance metrics for senior leaders and business partners.
Promote effective use of data visualization, automation, and advanced reporting solutions to expand business insight and shorten reporting cycle times.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
Ten years of financial analysis experience, including work in the insurance, financial services or investment management industry
Expert knowledge of accounting/finance
Analytical and problem solving skills
Strategic thinker able to communicate on business/market and legislative issues at a macro level
Organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to make timely decisions using the appropriate information
Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills to provide complex information to diverse audiences
Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel and financial business systems
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA/advanced degree
Extensive knowledge of assigned business area (e.g. investments, premiums, IFRS, Statutory Accounting)
Working Conditions:
Hybrid (In Office: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays)
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $128,000 - $170,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
