ABOUT OUTLOOK THERAPEUTICS
Outlook Therapeutics (Nasdaq: OTLK) is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company redefining the standard of care in retinal disease. In the United States, our lead product has received FDA approval, making it the first and only FDA-approved ophthalmic formulation of its kind for the treatment of wet AMD, and we are preparing for US commercial launch. Our lead product is also the first ophthalmic formulation of its kind to receive Marketing Authorization from the European Commission and the UK MHRA for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), and has launched across Germany, Austria, and the UK. Driven by the stories of the patients we serve, we are united with the vision-care community around a single goal: a future where everyone with retinal disease can envision a brighter world.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reports To - Head of Commercial & Sales Operations
Location -Field-based — Western US (can be located anywhere within the territory)
Employment Type - Full-time
Direct Reports - Yes — 10 Key Account Managers
This is a rare ground-floor moment at a company hitting its commercial inflection point. As a lean, fast-moving organization, we offer scope and ownership that larger companies can’t: your work is visible, your decisions matter, and you’ll help build the function rather than simply maintain it. You’ll partner directly with senior leadership and see a clear line between what you do and patients gaining access to a new treatment option.
You'll build and lead the Western US field organization from the ground up, hiring and coaching a team of Key Account Managers and translating national launch strategy into account-level execution across the region.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Sales Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, hire, and onboard a team of 10 Key Account Managers to build a high-performing Western US field organization.
Coach and develop KAMs on clinical fluency, account planning, and selling skills to drive consistent execution across the region.
Set individual and team performance goals, run regular field rides and pipeline reviews, and hold the team accountable to sales targets.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and patient-focused selling within the team.
Territory & Account Strategy
Develop and execute the regional sales strategy for the Western US, aligning territory design and call plans to market opportunity.
Identify and prioritize key retina and ophthalmology accounts, driving formulary access and adoption of our lead product.
Partner with KAMs to build account-specific business plans that translate national brand strategy into local execution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Marketing, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to align field messaging, access support, and clinical resources with customer needs.
Surface field intelligence on customer needs, competitive activity, and market dynamics to inform national commercial strategy.
Work with Sales Operations on incentive compensation design, territory alignment, and CRM and reporting requirements.
Performance Management & Reporting
Own the Western US region's sales forecast, tracking performance against targets and adjusting tactics to close gaps.
Report regularly to the Head of Commercial & Sales Operations on regional performance, team development, and market trends.
Manage the region's travel and operating budget responsibly.
Launch Execution
Serve as a senior field leader through the US commercial launch, ensuring readiness across hiring, training, and account targeting.
Build repeatable playbooks for account engagement and market access navigation that scale as the team grows.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus.
8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech sales experience, including experience in ophthalmology, retina, or another buy-and-bill specialty market.
3+ years of sales management experience leading and developing a field-based team.
Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams in a launch or hyper-growth commercial environment.
Working knowledge of buy-and-bill reimbursement and account-based selling in retina or ophthalmology.
Willingness to travel extensively across the Western US territory.
Preferred
Experience launching a first-in-class or novel therapy in ophthalmology or retina.
Existing relationships with key retina and ophthalmology accounts and KOLs across the Western US.
Experience with CRM and sales analytics platforms.
WHAT WE OFFER
Competitive base salary, annual performance bonus, and equity — so you share in the value you help create
Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision
401(k) with company match
Generous paid time off and company holidays
A high-trust, low-bureaucracy culture with direct access to leadership and real room to grow
Mission-driven work that helps preserve sight for patients who are counting on it
COMPENSATION
In keeping with our commitment to pay transparency, the good-faith base salary range for this role is $205,000 - $250,000, with an annual target bonus of 20-25%. This role is also eligible for a meaningful equity grant, reflecting the opportunity to build lasting value at a company at a commercial inflection point. Final compensation reflects experience, skills, and location.
