Company Description The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge supports talented African students to pursue full-time master’s degrees while developing their leadership potential. Role Description The Vice President of Strategy is a full-time, remote role responsible for shaping and guiding the long-term strategic direction of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Cambridge. This position leads strategic planning processes, including defining program priorities, setting measurable goals, and aligning initiatives with the program’s focus on climate resilience and sustainability. The role involves analyzing data and external trends, developing recommendations to strengthen program impact, and presenting strategic insights to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating cross-functional strategic projects, evaluating funding and partnership opportunities, refining digital and outreach strategies, and ensuring that operational plans support the program’s mission. The Vice President of Strategy also mentors team members, fosters collaboration across departments, and maintains strong relationships with university partners and external organizations.
Qualifications
Strong Analytical Skills with experience interpreting complex data, evaluating program performance, and translating insights into actionable strategies.
Proven Strategic Planning and Digital Strategy capabilities, including designing long-term roadmaps, aligning initiatives with organizational goals, and leveraging digital tools to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
Consulting experience or similar background in advisory roles, with the ability to diagnose challenges, design solutions, and influence decision-making in mission-driven organizations.
Solid understanding of Finance, including budgeting, resource allocation, and assessing the financial impact of strategic initiatives.
Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Policy, Business, Economics, Sustainability, International Development) or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects in global or multicultural contexts.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across academic, nonprofit, and philanthropic environments.
Familiarity with climate resilience, sustainability, or related fields and a strong commitment to equitable education and inclusive leadership development.
