About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Mantis Robotics is building the next generation of intelligent, fenceless industrial robots designed to work safely and productively alongside people. Our technology combines industrial performance with advanced embedded safety, giving manufacturers a new approach to automation without relying on the traditional barriers that separate robots from people.
We are a rapidly growing robotics startup headquartered in Silicon Valley (Pleasanton, CA), with offices in Belgium and Taiwan. As our U.S. business grows, we're looking for an emerging sales professional who wants to build a career in robotics and industrial automation.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Sales Representative who wants more responsibility than a traditional SDR role but is still early enough in their career to benefit from working directly alongside experienced sales and engineering leadership.
You'll help generate new business while also participating in real customer opportunities—from initial prospecting and discovery through demonstrations, application discussions, quoting, and commercial follow-up.
This is an opportunity to learn how complex technical products are actually sold.
You won't be expected to be a robotics engineer on day one. You will, however, be expected to become knowledgeable enough about Mantis technology, manufacturing automation, and customer applications to hold credible conversations and recognize when to bring our engineers into the discussion.
What You'll Do
Proactively identify and develop new customers, distributors and system integrator relationships across North America.
Research manufacturing accounts and identify engineering, automation, operations, plant, and executive decision-makers.
Conduct outbound prospecting through phone, email, LinkedIn/social outreach, referrals, events, and other channels.
Qualify opportunities by understanding the customer's application, existing process, automation objectives, timeline, and commercial requirements.
Conduct initial discovery calls and sales presentations with prospective customers.
Learn to communicate the technical and business value of Mantis fenceless robotics to engineers, operations teams, executives, and system integrators.
Coordinate with Mantis application engineers to determine whether prospective applications are technically appropriate for our robots.
Help gather application requirements, customer specifications, layouts, cycle-time requirements, and other information needed to evaluate opportunities.
Prepare and coordinate quotations and commercial follow-up under the guidance of senior sales leadership.
Support opportunities throughout the sales process and maintain momentum between customer, engineering, system integrator, and commercial teams.
Work with Mantis system integration partners when applications require complete automation solutions.
Participate in remote product demonstrations and occasional in-person customer meetings, trade shows, or site visits.
Maintain accurate Account, Contact, Lead, Opportunity, activity, and pipeline information in Zoho CRM.
Proactively manage your schedule, opportunities, follow-ups, and customer commitments.
Provide customer and market intelligence to Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Product teams.
Continue developing the technical and commercial knowledge required to take increasing ownership of opportunities.
About You
You're Curious About How Things Work.
When you walk through a factory, you want to understand how something is being made, why a process is manual, and whether there's a better way to automate it.
You're Comfortable With Engineers and Executives.
You can adjust your conversation depending on whether you're speaking with an automation engineer, plant manager, system integrator, or company president.
You're Commercially Driven.
You don't just want to book meetings. You want to understand what happens afterward and learn how an opportunity becomes a customer.
You're Technical Enough to Learn.
You don't need an engineering degree, but you shouldn't be intimidated by payloads, reach, cycle times, end-of-arm tooling, machine tending, palletizing, or manufacturing applications. You'll be expected to learn.
You're Scrappy.
We're a growing robotics company, not a giant corporation. You'll encounter situations where there isn't an established playbook. You're comfortable finding answers, asking questions, and moving things forward.
You're Organized.
Complex B2B opportunities involve multiple stakeholders and long follow-up cycles. You document conversations, maintain your CRM, and make sure important details don't disappear.
Qualifications
1–3+ years of B2B sales, inside sales, business development, technical sales, or related customer-facing experience.
Experience with industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing technology, capital equipment, engineering products, or another technical B2B environment is strongly preferred.
Previous direct industrial robotics experience is valuable but not required for an exceptional candidate with demonstrated technical aptitude.
Experience prospecting and developing new business.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Comfortable learning and discussing technical concepts with customers.
Experience with CRM systems; ZOHO CRM experience is a plus.
Ability to operate independently in a remote, fast-moving startup environment.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings, demonstrations, installations, and industry events.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring or seeking visa sponsorship now or in the future.
