Position Overview
The Senior Accounting Manager leads the Business Unit accounting team and serves as a key partner to the Business Unit Controller. This role oversees financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, internal controls, compliance, technical accounting, and audit support, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
The position works closely with operational leadership, FP&A, and the Canton Office to provide accounting expertise, drive process improvements, support business decision-making, and develop accounting talent.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
Lead day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Review financial statements, supporting schedules, and accounting analyses to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Partner with operational teams to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
Technical Accounting, Controls & Compliance
Provides guidance on technical accounting matters and application of company accounting policies and GAAP.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, including SOX compliance and financial governance requirements.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
Identify and escalate accounting, reporting, and compliance risks.
Process Improvement & Business Partnership
Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, reporting, and controls.
Support finance transformation initiatives, system implementations, and Shared Services integration efforts.
Collaborate with operational and finance leaders to provide financial insight and support business performance.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team.
Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
5+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or controllership experience.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and technical accounting.
Proven analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting multiple lines of business and operating locations preferred.
