Role Description The Assistant Controller role is a full-time, remote position responsible for supporting the organization’s financial management and reporting functions. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements and management reports, and maintaining accurate general ledger accounts. The Assistant Controller monitors budgets and forecasts, supports variance and trend analysis, and ensures compliance with accounting policies and relevant regulations. This role also helps coordinate audits, improves internal controls and financial processes, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decisions.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong accounting and finance skills, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and knowledge of GAAP or IFRS.
Candidates should possess experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, including variance and cost analysis.
Candidates should possess proficiency in accounting and ERP software, as well as solid Excel and data management skills.
Candidates should possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills to handle multiple deadlines in a remote setting.
Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills for working with operations, engineering, and management teams.
Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field are preferred; CPA or equivalent certification is an asset.
Experience in manufacturing or automotive industry environments, including exposure to cost accounting and plant-level reporting, is beneficial.
