Reliability Engineer

Position Summary
The Autonomous Maintenance / Preventive Maintenance Pillar Lead is responsible for improving equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness within the Rocky Mount Model Line.
The role will partner closely with Operations, skilled trades and Engineering to establish basic equipment conditions, identify and eliminate abnormalities, improve preventive maintenance and reduce recurring equipment failures.
The successful candidate should have a strong manufacturing maintenance or reliability foundation. Prior formal Autonomous Maintenance pillar leadership is preferred but not required. Cornerstone methodology and pillar-tool training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Lead AM/PM pillar implementation and associated Master Plan.
Establish baseline equipment losses and identify priority/bad-actor equipment.
Develop operator and maintenance ownership for equipment condition.
Lead initial cleaning and inspection activities to expose abnormalities and deterioration.
Establish and manage equipment abnormality tagging and closure.
Identify and address Sources of Contamination (SOC) and hard-to-access areas.
Coordinate restoration of basic equipment conditions with Operations and skilled trades.
Develop and implement Cleaning, Inspection and Lubrication (CIL) standards.
Establish visual inspection points, centerlines and abnormal-condition criteria.
Develop One-Point Lessons and operator equipment-care capability.
Define safe and appropriate boundaries between operator AM work and skilled-trade work.
Analyze CMMS data, maintenance history and breakdown trends.
Develop breakdown Pareto analysis and identify recurring equipment failures.
Apply equipment criticality analysis to prioritize maintenance resources.
Track and improve MTBF and MTTR.
Facilitate structured breakdown analysis and Root Cause Analysis.
Improve PM standards, maintenance job plans and work-order quality.
Support PM optimization based on equipment condition, failure history and criticality.
Improve planned versus reactive maintenance performance.
Support critical-spare and MRO strategies.
Lead AM/PM Activity Board reviews and ensure actions are assigned, completed and verified.
Develop operator and maintenance-team capability through coaching and structured training.
Key Performance Measures
Equipment uptime/OEE, breakdown frequency and duration, MTBF, MTTR, PM completion/effectiveness, repeat failures, planned versus reactive work, abnormality-tag closure, CIL adherence, maintenance backlog and equipment-related scrap/overtime.
Required
Manufacturing maintenance, reliability, engineering, skilled-trades leadership or related experience.
Working knowledge of preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting/reliability.
Experience working with maintenance work orders or a CMMS.
Demonstrated structured problem-solving capability.
Ability to work effectively with operators, skilled trades, Engineering and manufacturing leadership.
Strong leadership, coaching and organizational skills.
Preferred
Exposure to TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, WCM, Lean Maintenance or reliability-centered improvement.
Experience with some of the following: RCA, MTBF/MTTR, equipment criticality, PM optimization, CIL, condition monitoring, MRO or spare-parts management.
Previous experience leading maintenance/reliability improvement initiatives.
