Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time tenure-track position at the assistant professor level with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning in Spring or Fall 2027. The successful applicant will be required to teach; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the University, College, Department and profession.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to pursue courtesy appointments in other departments within the College of Engineering, such as Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering. Many Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution faculty members hold courtesy appointments across the College, reflecting a tradition of cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Such appointments are subject to approval by the departments and university and graduate program policies. Once a courtesy appointment is approved, the faculty member will be eligible to recruit graduate students, including M.S. and Ph.D. students, from courtesy department(s) and serve as their primary advisor, subject to the policies of the respective graduate program.

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is unique among the many departments within the College of Engineering, due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. The Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution Department blends engineering and business knowledge, methods, and research. This department consists of four distinct undergraduate programs and three graduate programs - two distance education and one resident graduate program. Minors in Embedded Systems Integration, Technical Sales, and Information Technology Services Management are also available. As the largest in student enrollment (:2600 undergraduate and over 230 graduate students) in the college, the department has 116 faculty members, including 40 tenured/tenure-track and 76 full and part-time academic professional track faculty members to support academic programs in electronic systems engineering technology, multidisciplinary engineering technology, manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, information technology service management, and industrial distribution. Department research expenditures exceed $12 million annually supporting areas such as embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, intelligent product design and development, information technology management, human-computer interaction, robotics and automation, sales management, distribution operations and supply chain management (led by the Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education), engineering education and workforce development. In addition to the programs on the College Station campus, the department also has remote programs on branch campus sites.
