Job Summary
The School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for three full-time, Assistant Professor of Practice.
Positions 1 & 2 — Assistant Professor of Practice, Online DSW Program (2 positions, remote work possible)
Help launch and grow UTA’s new online Doctor of Social Work program from its earliest days. These roles are ideal for practice-seasoned educators who want to shape doctoral-level curriculum, mentor advanced practitioners and scholar-practitioners, and build a program culture from the ground up.

Position 3 — Assistant Professor of Practice, UTA West (1 position, in-person)
Be a founding faculty presence at UTA West — a new hub positioned at the intersection of I-30 and I-20, the western gateway to Fort Worth in fast-growing Parker County. This role offers the chance to build direct relationships with a new regional student population and community partners, teach across BSW , MSW , and doctoral levels, and put a personal stamp on what social work education looks like at UTA’s newest location.
In-person role based at the new UTA West location — western Fort Worth / Parker County
Founding faculty member for a brand-new campus program with room to shape local partnerships and community engagement
Ideal for an educator who wants visibility, ownership, and a direct hand in establishing UTA’s presence in a high-growth region
Required Qualifications
A doctorate in social work or a related field ( ABD or degree completion within two years will be considered)
A master’s degree in social work
A minimum of two years of post-master’s practice experience
Teaching experience, whether in the classroom or through professional development offerings and trainings
Capacity to teach across multiple course topics and program levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral)
Ability to teach via multiple instructional delivery methods, including service-learning, experiential learning, and virtual/online formats
Preferred Qualifications
For the Online DSW positions: experience with doctoral-level curriculum design, advanced clinical or macro practice scholarship, and online andragogy
For the UTA West position: experience building community partnerships and a track record of engagement with regional practice or civic organizations
Evidence of a commitment to teamwork, service, and leadership
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
80% Teaching: eight classes per academic year (4:4 load), delivered online, face-to-face, or hybrid depending on position and program need
20% Service: to the School of Social Work, the University, the community, and the profession
