About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Remote | San Francisco Bay Area preferred
We’re Silicon Valley’s first and longest-lasting agency positioning agency. For more than two decades, we’ve helped the world’s most innovative brands tell their story.
We’re looking for an Account Coordinator who is creative, curious, detail-oriented and self-motivated to support our client projects and execute key parts of our proven process. You’ll work closely with our Client Manager and strategy team to do research, analysis, presentations and project management.
We’re a small team relying on everyone’s initiative to pitch in and own their work. That means driving assignments through to completion, anticipating what’s needed next and taking initiative to solve problems rather than simply flagging them. In return, you’ll get hands-on experience working with C-level execs at leading brands with opportunities to learn, build new skills, and take on more responsibility.
We work remotely, so we’re looking for someone who is happy and highly effective working from home.
What you’ll do:
Project management
Execute ZOOM’s data-driven positioning process, from research through final recommendations
Support the Client Manager in coordinating client projects, keeping deliverables and follow-ups on track and details buttoned up
Draft client presentations that turn research findings into clear, compelling stories
Own assigned work through completion, anticipating what’s needed next and recommending solutions rather than simply flagging problems
Creative thinking
Help develop breakthrough positioning for clients. Analyze client, customer and prospect data, identifying patterns and implications and contributing to recommendations
Prepare competitive analysis for clients to identify positioning themes and openings
Market research
Create research tools including surveys, questionnaires and discussion guides
Manage interviews, focus groups and quantitative surveys
Work with recruiters and research partners to set them up for success and keep fieldwork on track
Develop research participant screeners and coordinate with third-party recruiters to ensure qualified targets
Review interview and survey data for accuracy and completeness, and prepare reports to support analysis
Use AI tools to develop agents that improve research, analysis and team workflows while maintaining privacy, accuracy and quality
Who you are:
Have a BA or BS in marketing, communications, journalism, business, sociology or a related field
A marketer at heart with job or internship experience in market research, marketing or client projects
Off-the-charts attention to detail; you’re precise, thorough and notice what others miss
Able to step back, slow down and see the big picture in a fast-paced environment, even while juggling lots of moving pieces
Take ownership, follow through and look for solutions rather than simply flagging problems
Work collaboratively and independently, delivering high-quality work with little supervision in a remote environment
Insatiably curious and empathetic; you ask smart questions, dig beneath the surface and want to understand clients, their customers and what matters to them
A strong communicator who can take a lot of information and make it clear, concise and useful
A word nerd who obsesses over the small word changes that make a big difference. An eagle eye for spotting typos and grammatical errors
Set a high bar for your work, anticipating questions and asking “Can I make this better?” before passing it along
Bring positive energy and a sense of humor to your work; we take our work seriously, but not ourselves
Experienced with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom.us, Slack, Squarespace, HubSpot and LinkedIn, marketing and AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude
Available to work Pacific Time hours so you can collaborate with our team and clients in real time
As part of our interview process, finalists may be invited to complete a short test project designed to reflect the skills used in the role.
Employment, compensation and benefits
This role is a full-time, remote position, beginning with a 90-day introductory period designed to ensure a strong mutual fit, with clear expectations and regular feedback along the way. The salary range for this role is $50,000–$70,000, with compensation within that range determined by experience, scope, and demonstrated ability to operate independently in a fast-moving client environment, including relevant experience in:
B2B tech marketing, positioning and message development
Market research and data analysis
Project management: Ability to take ownership, follow through and solve problems with strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work independently and learn quickly in a fast-moving client environment
ZOOM offers a competitive compensation package designed to support both personal well-being and long-term growth. Benefits begin after the 90-day introductory period and include medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Employees are also eligible to participate in ZOOM’s 401(k) program following an initial employment period.
We operate with an honor-based personal time off system. Rather than tracking accrued vacation or sick time, employees take time off as needed, in coordination with their role responsibilities and team commitments. During the first year, employees are expected to take up to 10 days of vacation. Additional guidance is provided as part of onboarding.
ZOOM observes paid company holidays, including New Year’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
ZOOM typically closes for the days between Christmas and New Year’s at the principals’ discretion.
We offer an annual bonus program. Bonuses are awarded based on overall company performance and an individual’s contribution to ZOOM’s success. We believe in sharing the success of the business when company and individual goals are met.
