Zaya Health builds AI tools for independent medical practices. Our voice AI receptionist handles patient calls, scheduling, and routine requests while connecting with the practice’s EMR.
We are hiring a hands-on engineer to lead our developer team. You will coordinate their work, review technical decisions, build new features, and provide direct backup for EMR integrations.
What you’ll do
• Lead day-to-day engineering work across voice AI and EMR integrations.
• Design and build browser-based EMR integrations where an API is unavailable or insufficient.
• Work alongside our integration developer on patient matching, appointment scheduling, data exchange, and error handling.
• Troubleshoot and maintain EMR connections when the primary integration developer is unavailable.
• Turn practice workflows into reliable product features, from requirements through deployment.
• Review code, improve documentation and testing, and help the team deliver safely across multiple clinics.
What we’re looking for
• At least 3 years of experience building production software.
• Hands-on experience with US healthcare EMRs, practice management software, or healthcare integrations.
• Strong backend development skills in Python or Node.js, including APIs and third-party integrations.
• Experience building or maintaining browser automation or RPA workflows for complex applications.
• Experience guiding other developers while continuing to write and ship code.
• Working knowledge of patient identity, scheduling workflows, and the handling of protected health information.
Experience with eClinicalWorks, Athena, EPIC, Cerner, FHIR, HL7, Google Cloud, LiveKit, or voice AI is a plus. You do not need experience with every tool in our stack.
We’re looking for someone who can take ownership when an integration fails, work through the underlying issue with the team, and build a dependable solution.
