We are looking for highly experienced Senior Full Stack Developers to support the Government of Alberta on service innovation, program review, and digital transformation projects. The successful candidates will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams, contributing to research and discovery, technical solution design, application development, testing, deployment, reusable components, and ongoing development.

Must Have
Experience using source control, particularly Git, in collaborative software development – 5 years.
Experience with automated unit testing and integration testing – 3 years.
Experience with database technologies, including relational databases and alternatives – 3 years.
Experience working as a Full Stack Developer on complex software solutions in an agile team environment – 5 years.
Experience working on production applications using modern application frameworks and frontend JavaScript frameworks – 3 years.
Nice to Have
Experience incrementally transforming existing legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases – 2 years.
Experience leveraging generative AI and agentic tooling to produce executive-grade outputs, including drafting, analysis, structured retrieval, and workflow automation. Demonstrates proficiency in prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and critical evaluation of AI outputs for accuracy, risk, hallucination, and sensitivity. Actively builds AI-augmented workflows and routines, going beyond basic tool usage to drive productivity and decision quality – 1 year.
Experience with at least one or more from the following technology stack:
Frontend: Angular, React, Vue.js
Backend: C# .NET Core, Node.js (Nests, Express), Python (Django)
Experience Required: 2 years
Experience with design patterns and their application and software architecture considerations – 2 years.
Experience with Government of Alberta development guidelines and principles – 2 years.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines – 2 years.
Experience working with teams that also apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches – 2 years.
Description
Project Overview
The province requires up to fifteen (15) Full Stack Developers to work with 3D on service innovation, program review, and digital transformation projects across the Government of Alberta. The Full Stack Developers will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams.
Scope of Services
It is anticipated that the Full Stack Developer will be required for one (1) year; however, the province may extend the contract for up to twenty-four (24) months on the same terms and conditions.
The Full Stack Developer will be required on a full-time basis (7.25-hour work day), working across two (2) to three (3) projects. Time, location, and frequency of work will vary depending on the needs of the particular project.
Key Responsibilities
Project Research and Discovery
Participate And Contribute To Project Research And Discovery
Contribute to field research and user interviews.
Lead technical discovery and deliver related artifacts such as diagrams and documentation.
Solution Design and Development
Provide Solution Design And Development Services Related To
Detailed solution designs based on shared understanding from discovery.
Completion of features for the continued development of exemplar projects.
Functional and non-functional defect discovery and resolution.
Enhancements to solution code quality, tooling, and documentation for improved maintainability.
Collaboration and Delivery
Collaborate with frontend designers to deliver solutions aligned to a consistent look and feel.
Advise and inform product owners on technical efforts and implementation options to facilitate frequent delivery.
Support solution deployment and launch for limited and general availability.
Contribute to reusable common components and capabilities.
Ongoing Development and Knowledge Transfer
Sustain ongoing development through onboarding of technical team members.
Maintain technical documentation.
Adopt and improve team development and quality practices and processes.
Work Arrangement
The Full Stack Developer will primarily work remotely; however, the Full Stack Developer may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in Edmonton on reasonable notice from the province, up to 10% of total hours.
At the time of providing such notice, the province will advise of the expected duration of any such meetings or work sessions.
However, time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton will be at no cost to the province.
