Role Description The Web Designer is a volunteer, fully remote role, responsible for designing and maintaining Xanathos’ web presence. Day-to-day tasks include creating visually compelling page layouts, designing graphics and UI elements, and implementing responsive designs that function smoothly across devices and browsers. The role involves collaborating with content and technical teams to translate educational materials into engaging digital experiences, ensuring consistent branding and clear information architecture. The Web Designer will also work on front-end refinements, performance improvements, and usability enhancements, using feedback and analytics to optimize user experience.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Web Design and Responsive Web Design skills for creating modern, user-centered interfaces.
Candidates should possess Graphic Design and Graphics skills for producing visual assets that support educational content.
Candidates should possess Front-End Development skills to implement and refine designs using HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript.
Candidates should possess strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates should possess relevant education or equivalent experience in Web Design, Graphic Design, Front-End Development, or a related field.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates should possess familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and image-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
Candidates should possess a solid understanding of UX/UI principles, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility.
Candidates should possess experience managing web projects and working with content management systems (CMS); experience in science or health-related topics is a plus.
