Role Description The Editor for the new diecast model magazine will oversee all editorial content from concept to publication, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the magazine’s style and vision. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning editorial calendars, assigning and reviewing articles, editing copy for clarity and tone, and coordinating with writers, designers, and other contributors. The Editor will conduct research on diecast models and related topics, develop feature ideas, and refine content to appeal to both seasoned collectors and new readers. This is a full-time remote role that requires proactive communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. The Editor will also contribute to audience engagement efforts, such as refining newsletter content and collaborating on social media messaging.
Qualifications
Strong editorial and copyediting skills, including experience reviewing, structuring, and refining articles for clarity, tone, and accuracy.
Proficiency in content planning and management, such as creating editorial calendars, coordinating with contributors, and maintaining consistent publishing schedules.
Research capabilities and subject-matter curiosity, with the ability to quickly learn about diecast models, collector communities, and related industry trends.
Digital publishing skills, including familiarity with content management systems (CMS), basic SEO best practices, and optimizing content for online readership.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to give constructive, respectful feedback to writers and collaborators.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a remote, full-time environment.
Experience in magazine publishing, hobbyist media, or enthusiast-focused editorial content is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Media Studies, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
