About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Professional with a strong background in cybersecurity consulting, auditing, compliance, engineering, or assurance.
This role is designed for a cybersecurity professional who can combine technical credibility, client ownership, practical judgment, and fast execution across complex and changing compliance environments.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in at least one major cybersecurity or assurance framework, such as CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, or a comparable regulatory environment, and is capable of expanding into additional frameworks over time.
We support organizations operating in the Defense Industrial Base and other regulated industries, including environments where cybersecurity, auditability, risk management, and regulatory compliance are critical.
This role is broader than a traditional auditor position. You will own client engagements, perform assessments, develop reports, guide customers through complex cybersecurity requirements, coordinate with internal experts, and use AI and automation tools to improve delivery efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary day-to-day owner for assigned client engagements, driving meetings, decisions, follow-up, risks, milestones, and overall customer confidence.
Integrate with the existing Service Delivery team and provide transition, support, and ongoing account ownership for a growing portfolio of customers.
Build client confidence by asking strong questions, understanding the customer environment, and communicating clear next steps.
Conduct cybersecurity gap assessments, readiness reviews, audits, and advisory engagements across frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI.
Provide consulting and advisory services for organizations operating in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
Apply cybersecurity frameworks practically and proportionally, distinguishing actual requirements from unnecessary over-engineering.
Support development and maintenance of system security documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, risk assessments, audit reports, and supporting evidence.
Translate complex cybersecurity and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and executive stakeholders.
Operate effectively when customer requirements or technical environments are incomplete or ambiguous by identifying what is known, what remains uncertain, and what must be validated before proceeding.
Adapt quickly when customer priorities, technical environments, or regulatory requirements change.
Manage multiple concurrent engagements while maintaining documentation, follow-up, deadlines, and quality standards.
Identify when a question requires deeper technical expertise and involve the appropriate subject-matter expert rather than making unsupported assumptions.
Present findings, risks, and recommendations through professional reports, working sessions, and executive briefings.
Use AI-assisted analysis and automation tools to improve research, compliance analysis, documentation, and reporting while applying appropriate professional judgment and validation.
Develop capability across additional frameworks and regulatory areas, including FDA cybersecurity requirements, SEC cyber governance, FedRAMP, and emerging cybersecurity regulations.
Collaborate with internal technical experts and leadership to resolve complex client issues and improve delivery methods.
QualificationsRequired
5+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience in consulting, auditing, compliance, engineering, assurance, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:
NIST SP 800-171 / CMMC
NIST SP 800-53 / FedRAMP
SOC 2
ISO 27001
PCI
Financial-services cybersecurity or regulatory frameworks
Comparable cybersecurity or assurance frameworks
Experience supporting organizations in the Defense Industrial Base, financial services, healthcare, energy, technology, or other regulated environments.
Ability to independently manage client-facing cybersecurity engagements and drive work toward clear outcomes.
Strong technical writing and audit/reporting experience.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical personnel and executive stakeholders.
Ability to evaluate complex IT environments and ask the right questions to identify cybersecurity and compliance risks.
Ability to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously in a fast-changing environment.
Strong professional judgment, including knowing when to make a recommendation and when to involve a deeper technical authority.
Demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar frameworks, technologies, and client environments quickly and apply that knowledge with sound judgment.
Familiarity with AI and automation tools used to improve cybersecurity, research, compliance, or documentation workflows.
Preferred
Experience supporting defense, aerospace, financial services, healthcare, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
Experience with cloud, hybrid, isolated, or air-gapped environments.
Working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, FDA cybersecurity regulations, SEC cyber-risk disclosure requirements, or related regulatory environments.
Experience working across multiple cybersecurity frameworks.
Experience advising clients through remediation, readiness, audit, or certification programs.
Ability to evaluate complex technical environments without unnecessarily over-engineering solutions.
