Role Description This is a full-time, on-site VMC Operator role based in Ambattur. The VMC Operator will set up, operate, and monitor Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce precision components according to drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, loading and unloading workpieces, selecting and installing tools, and adjusting machine parameters for optimal performance. The role involves measuring and inspecting finished parts, maintaining machine cleanliness, and reporting any technical issues or deviations from quality standards. The VMC Operator will collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets while following safety and housekeeping guidelines.
Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, machining symbols, and basic engineering documentation.
Hands-on experience in operating VMC machines, including setup, tool change, and basic parameter adjustments.
Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds and speeds, and machining practices for precision components.
Basic measurement skills using instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality inspection.
Understanding of shop safety practices, machine maintenance basics, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving attitude, and ability to work effectively in a production environment.
Willingness to work in shifts as required and coordinate with team members to achieve output and quality targets.
ITI, diploma, or equivalent qualification in machining, mechanical, or relevant trade is preferred; prior experience as a VMC Operator is an added advantage.
