Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Lighting Designer, collaborating closely with project managers, architects, interior designers, and clients on a variety of commercial and residential projects. The Lighting Designer will develop lighting concepts, produce layouts and technical drawings, and select fixtures and control strategies that align with project goals, budgets, and sustainability standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing design documentation, creating visual presentations, coordinating with suppliers, and contributing to specification and tender packages. The role also involves reviewing architectural and interior plans, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and providing ongoing design support throughout project execution. The Lighting Designer is expected to manage priorities independently, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and consistently deliver functional, safe, and aesthetically compelling lighting solutions.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Lighting Design and Architectural Lighting for diverse interior and exterior environments.
Applied experience in Lighting and Lighting Control, including fixture selection, control systems, and basic calculations.
Background in Interior Design with an understanding of spatial planning, materials, and visual comfort.
Proficiency with design and documentation tools (e.g., AutoCAD/Revit, Dialux/Relux, Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
Knowledge of relevant lighting standards, energy-efficiency principles, and sustainable design practices.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings, prepare technical specifications, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting.
Degree or diploma in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field; professional certifications in lighting are a plus.
Experience with client-facing presentations and international or regional projects is beneficial.
