Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant

Rian is hiring a Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant to support the day-to-day underwriting process and help keep submissions, documentation, and policy activity moving efficiently.
In this role, you will work closely with underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to review submissions, maintain accurate records, prepare policy documents, and coordinate follow-ups throughout the underwriting lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Support underwriters with new business submissions, renewals, endorsements, and account maintenance
Review incoming submissions for completeness and follow up on missing documentation or information
Enter, update, and maintain accurate account, policy, and underwriting data across internal systems
Prepare and process quotes, binders, policy documents, endorsements, certificates, and related materials
Coordinate with brokers, agents, and internal teams regarding underwriting requirements and outstanding items
Monitor renewal timelines, pending submissions, and account activity to ensure deadlines are met
Assist with account research, exposure information, loss history, and other underwriting documentation
Maintain organized and complete electronic files in accordance with internal procedures
Identify process gaps or inconsistencies and help improve underwriting workflows and documentation
Provide general administrative and operational support to the underwriting team as needed
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Clear and professional written and verbal communication
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar business applications
Comfortable learning new systems and working with structured data and documentation
Previous experience in commercial insurance, underwriting, brokerage, account management, or a related administrative role is preferred
Familiarity with commercial lines insurance products and terminology is a plus
