Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Costume Designer role based in Mumbai. The Costume Designer will conceptualize and design costumes that align with the director’s vision, script requirements, and character development. Daily tasks include collaborating with directors, producers, and stylists; creating mood boards and costume plans; sourcing fabrics and materials; and coordinating with tailors and vendors for fittings and alterations. The role involves managing costume budgets, maintaining a detailed inventory, ensuring continuity of costumes across scenes, and supervising wardrobe on set during rehearsals and shoots. The Costume Designer will also oversee costume maintenance, handle last-minute adjustments, and ensure all costumes meet production timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications
Strong Costume Design and Fashion Design skills, with the ability to translate scripts and character briefs into visual concepts.
Styling and Fashion knowledge, including an understanding of trends, silhouettes, colors, and fabrics suitable for different characters and time periods.
Basic Marketing awareness to support visual branding and promotional looks for key characters or campaigns.
Proficiency in sketching or using design software, and creating mood boards and look books.
Experience working on film, television, or digital media productions, preferably in an on-set wardrobe or costume role.
Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple characters, looks, and shooting schedules.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with directors, actors, production teams, and vendors.
Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Costume Design, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
