Engineering Lead

Summary:
Mechanical Design (NPD) is responsible for leading mechanical design and development activities for new products from concept to production. The role ensures innovative, cost-effective, reliable, and manufacturable designs while meeting customer, regulatory, quality, and timeline requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
New Product Development Leadership
Lead end-to-end mechanical design activities for new products from concept generation, feasibility analysis, prototyping, validation, and production release
Translate product requirements, customer needs, and business objectives into robust mechanical design solutions
Drive design innovation, value engineering, and continuous improvement
Design & Engineering Management
Oversee 3D/2D design, detailing, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection & Bill of Material
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and certifications (ISO, OSHA, BIS, customer-specific norms, etc.)
Conduct and lead design reviews, DFMEA, risk assessments, and technical gate reviews
Validate designs through simulations, calculations, testing, and prototyping & Lot Production release
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Industrial Design, Electronics, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams
Support manufacturing during tooling development, pilot builds, and production ramp-up
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for component development and cost optimization
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical design engineers
Assign projects, review work, set performance goals, and build technical competency within the team
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and engineering discipline
Cost, Quality & Time-to-Market
Drive cost optimization without compromising product performance and reliability
Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality targets
Identify and mitigate design, production, and supply risks proactively
Documentation & Governance
Ensure accurate and complete design documentation, including drawings (2D & 3D), BOMs, specifications, and change management (ECR/ECO)
Support audits, customer reviews, and technical documentation requirements
