Role Description This is a part-time remote Controller role responsible for overseeing the firm’s internal accounting and financial operations. Day-to-day tasks include managing the general ledger, preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, and ensuring accurate recording of revenues, expenses, and payroll. The Controller will monitor cash flow, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities may include refining internal controls, improving accounting processes, and collaborating with leadership to provide financial analysis that supports strategic decisions. The role involves regular communication with firm leadership and may include coordination with external stakeholders such as banks, vendors, and service providers.
Qualifications
Strong accounting and financial reporting skills, including general ledger management and preparation of financial statements.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support informed decision-making.
Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance relevant to small businesses and professional services firms.
Proficiency with accounting software and related tools (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms, Excel, and cloud-based systems).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with attention to accuracy and detail.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage priorities, and meet deadlines consistently.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or equivalent professional designation preferred.
Previous experience in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant role, ideally within a public accounting or professional services setting.
