Role Description The Undergraduate Research Fellow is a full-time, on-site role based at SASTRA’s campus in Thanjavur. The fellow will collaborate with faculty and research teams on ongoing projects, assist in designing experiments or studies, and participate in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Daily responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, preparing research materials, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to research reports, presentations, and publications. The role also involves attending research group meetings, sharing progress updates, and supporting laboratory or fieldwork activities as required. The fellow is expected to adhere to ethical research practices, institutional guidelines, and project timelines while actively engaging in a learning-oriented research environment.
Qualifications
Strong research aptitude, including the ability to conduct literature reviews, formulate questions, and engage with scholarly work.
Basic proficiency in data collection and analysis; familiarity with relevant tools or software (e.g., spreadsheets, statistical or discipline-specific software) is an advantage.
Effective written and oral communication skills for preparing reports, documentation, and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a research team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in academic or project settings.
Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate program (e.g., engineering, sciences, humanities, or related fields), with strong academic performance.
Interest in pursuing advanced study or a research-oriented career; prior project or internship experience is beneficial.
Commitment to ethical conduct in research, adherence to institutional policies, and willingness to learn new methods and techniques.
