Assistant Manager – Financial Compliance

Role Overview
We are seeking a finance professional to independently manage GST, direct tax, statutory compliances, reconciliations and audit coordination. The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of taxation and the ability to work with transaction-level data across sales, purchases, inventory and accounting records.
Key Responsibilities
GST & Indirect Tax
Prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, supported by reconciliations between returns, sales and purchase registers and general ledger balances.
Reconcile input tax credit with GSTR-2B; identify discrepancies, coordinate with vendors and track resolution.
Review GST treatment of sales, purchases, sales returns, purchase returns, discounts, credit/debit notes, inter-state transactions and applicable RCM transactions.
Verify e-invoices and e-way bills against underlying invoices and accounting records, as applicable.
Review HSN/SAC classification and applicable GST rates from a financial compliance perspective.
Prepare supporting schedules for annual GST reporting and coordinate responses to GST notices, assessments and departmental queries.
Maintain finance-side records and reconciliations required for IGCR compliance, including mapping of eligible imports with inventory/consumption records and supporting documentation, in coordination with the Import/SCM team.
Direct Tax
Review applicable TDS and TCS on payments and transactions; ensure accurate calculation, deposit, return preparation and reconciliation.
Prepare data and schedules for advance tax, income-tax returns and tax audits in coordination with external advisors.
Reconcile tax deductions, challans, certificates and ledger balances and resolve discrepancies with vendors and other stakeholders.
Financial Reporting & Audit
Review tax and statutory ledgers as part of monthly and year-end closing.
Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for vendor balances, customer balances, provisions, fixed assets, inventory and statutory dues.
Coordinate statutory, tax and internal audits, provide requested documentation and monitor closure of audit observations.
Ensure statutory liabilities and eligible tax credits are correctly reflected in the books.
Process & Reporting
Maintain a compliance calendar covering statutory filings, tax payments, audits and responses to notices.
Review invoices and accounting entries for tax accuracy, completeness of documentation and appropriate ledger classification.
Coordinate with procurement, sales, warehouse, SCM and accounts teams to obtain accurate data for reporting and closure.
Provide management with periodic updates on filing status, reconciliation differences, outstanding notices and matters requiring action.
Support improvement and automation of tax reconciliations and compliance reporting through Tally/ERP and Excel.
Candidate Requirements
B.Com/M.Com; CA Inter or CMA Inter preferred.
4–6 years of hands-on finance and taxation experience, including direct responsibility for GST and TDS returns and reconciliations.
Working knowledge of IGCR and import-related tax accounting/reconciliation will be an advantage.
Strong command of Excel, Tally/ERP, GST portal and Income Tax portal.
Ability to independently identify, explain and resolve differences between returns, ledgers, invoices and supporting records.
Experience in manufacturing, consumer electronics, mobile/electronics or e-commerce will be preferred.
