Role Description The Senior Systems Engineer – Web Hosting is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune Division. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining web hosting infrastructure, including servers, virtualization platforms, and related network services. Daily activities include monitoring system performance, managing backups, applying security patches, and ensuring high availability of hosting environments. The engineer will troubleshoot complex technical issues, coordinate with support teams, and optimize systems for scalability and reliability. The role also involves documenting configurations, contributing to security best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support customer hosting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Datacenter:
Manage, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Linux and Windows)
Datacenter deployment: rack/stack, cabling, OS install, network bring-up, burn-in, and handoff to production
Install and manage OS and services via remote consoles (IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, KVM)
Virtualization: Work with Proxmox, SolusVM, Virtualizor, and/or Hyper-V
Hosting Stack:
Administer cPanel/WHM and Plesk
Support DNS, email, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB; IIS/MSSQL exposure is a plus
Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Automation:
Debug Linux and Windows issues; use SNMP and BMC/out-of-band management
Monitor hardware, applications, and network; resolve incidents proactively
Automate with Ansible (and related scripting)
Client & Team: Coordinate with client, network/vendors during deployments and incidents.
Qualifications
4–6 years in web hosting / managed server operations
Strong cPanel/WHM and Linux experience; Plesk preferred
Experience with on-prem virtualization (Proxmox / SolusVM / Virtualizor; Hyper-V nice to have)
Hands-on datacenter work (rack, cable, install, remote console, hardware RMA)
Familiarity with Ansible for deployment/config automation
Monitoring exposure: Icinga2 / Zabbix / LibreNMS / Grafana–Prometheus (any solid stack)
Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, common hosting protocols
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
English + Hindi + Marathi Communication.
Willing to work from Pune and visit datacenter as needed (including occasional odd hours for installs/cutovers)
Nice to Have
NOC-PS or similar provisioning tooling
Windows hosting (IIS, MSSQL)
Hardware health via iLO / iDRAC / IPMI / Redfish
Prior on-call / NOC shift experience
Experience with structured cabling, switch uplinks, and IPMI/management networks
