About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Robinson Zermay LLP is a plaintiff-side civil litigation firm in downtown Los Angeles handling fair housing, source-of-income discrimination, habitability, and Prop 65 matters in Los Angeles Superior Court. Our fully remote, Philippines-based team is growing, and we are adding a junior paralegal who will be trained directly by the managing partner to take over half of the firm's discovery caseload.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will learn California civil discovery from the ground up and, within your first few months, carry your own slate of active cases. The work includes drafting plaintiff's responses and objections to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission; drafting outgoing discovery; reviewing defendants' responses and writing meet-and-confer letters; drafting motions to compel; preparing deposition notices, case management statements, and proofs of service; e-filing through the LASC portal; running client verifications through DocuSign and notice letters through LetterStream; and calendaring every deadline in the firm's case and discovery trackers. Training is hands-on: you will work from the firm's templates and prior filings, and your drafts will be reviewed and marked up until they go out with light edits.
WHAT WE NEED
No U.S. legal experience is required — we will train you. What we do need is excellent written English, a careful and detail-oriented working style, the ability to follow templates and instructions precisely and then work independently once trained, and a genuine interest in litigation. A Philippine law degree (JD/LLB), law-school enrollment, or paralegal coursework is strongly preferred; prior work for a U.S. or Australian law firm or legal BPO is a plus but not required. You must be comfortable in Google Workspace, able to work Monday–Friday on a Pacific-time schedule, and have a reliable computer and internet connection.
COMPENSATION
USD $4.00–$5.00 per hour to start, full-time (40 hours/week), with rate increases tied to demonstrated competence as you take on more of the caseload. In addition, the firm pays quarterly bonuses based on individual and firm performance. Time is tracked in Clockify with screenshot monitoring during working hours.
TO APPLY
Send a résumé and a short writing sample (any formal English writing — a legal memo, academic paper, or professional letter) to ak@robinsonzermay.com with the subject line "Junior Paralegal – Discovery." Candidates who advance will complete a 30-minute timed writing exercise before a Google Meet interview.
