Electrical Engineer

About the Role:
• Lead a team of electrical engineers in the design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems for biogas plants.
• Ensure the team's work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
• Delegate tasks effectively and motivate the team to achieve common goals.
• Oversee electrical projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets and deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including plant operators, maintenance personnel, and project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Electrical Design & Engineering:
o Design, develop, and implement electrical systems for biogas plants, including power distribution systems, motor control centers, instrumentation and control systems, and safety systems.
o Prepare electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for all electrical equipment and systems.
o Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, and voltage drop analysis.
o Select and specify appropriate electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgears, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation.
o Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
• Installation & Commissioning:
o Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring proper wiring, grounding, and safety measures.
o Conduct site inspections and supervise electrical contractors during installation and testing.
o Commission and test electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation systems.
o Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical issues during the commissioning phase
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
o Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of electrical systems within the biogas plant.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems, including motor failures, electrical faults, and control system malfunctions.
o Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, such as motor inspections, insulation testing, and thermographic surveys.
o Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities.
• Instrumentation & Control:
o Design, install, and maintain instrumentation and control systems for biogas plants, including sensors, transmitters, PLCs, SCADA systems, and data acquisition systems.
o Configure and program PLCs and SCADA systems to control and monitor biogas plant operations.
o Analyze process data and identify areas for improvement in plant efficiency and performance.
• Safety & Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with all electrical safety regulations and best practices.
o Conduct safety inspections and implement safety measures to prevent electrical accidents.
o Train plant operators on safe electrical practices and procedures.
o Ensure proper grounding and bonding of electrical equipment to minimize electrical hazards.
• Research & Development:
o Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electrical engineering and automation technologies relevant to biogas plants.
o Explore and implement innovative technologies to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of biogas plant electrical systems.
o Conduct research and development activities to optimize electrical systems for specific biogas plant applications.
• Leadership and Management:
o Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers.
o Delegate tasks effectively and motivate the team to achieve common goals.
o Oversee electrical projects from conception to completion.
o Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 5+ years of professional experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for industrial plants, preferably biogas plants.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including power systems, control systems, instrumentation, and electrical safety.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools.
• Experience with PLC programming and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Experience in leading and mentoring a team .
