We are hiring a Backend and Database Developer to build APIs, application logic, integrations, and databases for our technology and operations projects. You will work with a frontend developer to deliver features from development through testing and release.
What you will do
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend services using ASP.NET Core, Python, or a suitable JavaScript/TypeScript framework.
• Design tables, write SQL queries, and manage schema changes in PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Build integrations, background jobs, authentication, and role-based access where needed.
• Investigate performance and data issues, and help maintain reliable backups and migrations.
• Use Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools to speed up development while reviewing, testing, and understanding the code they produce.
• Work with Git, document technical changes, and collaborate with the frontend developer on API contracts.
What we are looking for
• 1–2 years of hands-on application development experience.
• Coding experience in at least two of C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with at least one used for backend development.
• Practical experience with both PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, including queries, joins, indexes, and basic schema design.
• Experience building or integrating REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git, debugging, testing, and handling application errors.
• Experience developing an application with Claude Code, Cursor, or another AI coding tool. You should be able to explain your own design choices and identify problems in AI-generated code.
• Ability to take an assigned feature from requirements through implementation and testing with support from the team.
