Senior WordPress Engineer

At Xeves, we are building ArtisansWP, our dedicated brand focused on high-performance WordPress infrastructure, bespoke plugin architecture, and cutting-edge AI integrations.
We take pride in crafting custom, scalable software from the ground up rather than relying on page builders or pre-made themes. We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer who shares our passion for clean PHP, modern architecture, and bridging WordPress with modern AI and API pipelines.
What You’ll Do
Architect Custom Solutions: Design and build custom plugins, core features, and framework-level code from scratch.
Integrate AI & APIs: Connect WordPress backends with complex REST APIs, SaaS platforms, and AI models (LLMs, OpenRouter APIs).
Optimize Performance: Fine-tune database queries, caching, and security for high-traffic environments.
Maintain Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code within Git-based CI/CD workflows and modern development standards.
What We’re Looking For
Deep PHP & OOP Mastery: Strong foundation in modern PHP (8.2+) and Object-Oriented Programming.
WordPress Core Expertise: Complete fluency with WP Core APIs (Hooks, Actions, Filters, REST API, WPDB).
Core Web Stack: Proficient in modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
Tooling & Databases: Hands-on experience with Git, RESTful APIs, and SQL query optimization.
Bespoke Development Mindset: Comfort working at the code level without relying on visual site builders (e.g., Elementor, Divi).
Nice-to-Haves
Real-world experience building with AI APIs or LLM pipelines.
Familiarity with Headless WordPress or modern JS frameworks (Next.js, Node.js).
