Role Description The Senior Accountant is a part-time remote role responsible for managing and overseeing key accounting functions that support the financial health of Buckner Villas Retirement. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. The role also involves preparing financial statements and reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts, and monitoring compliance with internal controls and applicable regulations. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with operational leaders to provide financial analysis, respond to inquiries, and help improve financial processes and reporting accuracy. This position requires consistent communication with the finance team and other stakeholders while working independently in a remote environment.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in general accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
Knowledge of accounting standards, internal controls, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Advanced skills with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets and financial modeling.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time remote setting.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (such as CPA) is preferred but not required.
Prior experience in healthcare, senior living, or nonprofit environments is beneficial.
