About the Role
Propel is looking for an experienced and accomplished Group Registrar to lead academic administration, regulatory compliance, accreditation, governance, and institutional coordination across multiple colleges/campuses.
The ideal candidate will be a senior academic administrator with 15+ years of experience in higher education, with strong and demonstrable expertise in NAAC accreditation, UGC/AICTE compliance, university liaison, academic governance, and multi-campus administration.
This is a strategic leadership position requiring close collaboration with institutional leadership, Principals, Deans, IQAC teams, faculty, universities, regulatory authorities, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Administration & Governance
Lead and oversee academic administration and governance across multiple colleges/campuses.
Develop, implement, and strengthen academic policies, processes, and governance frameworks.
Ensure adherence to academic regulations, institutional policies, and statutory requirements.
Work closely with Principals, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty, and academic leadership.
Standardize academic administration processes and best practices across campuses.
Support senior leadership on academic planning, governance, and institutional decision-making.
NAAC Accreditation & Quality Assurance
Lead end-to-end NAAC accreditation and re-accreditation cycles across institutions.
Drive institutional preparedness, documentation, data collection, evidence management, and accreditation submissions.
Oversee preparation of SSR, AQAR, and other relevant accreditation documentation.
Work closely with IQAC and academic teams to ensure compliance with NAAC requirements.
Drive continuous quality improvement and accreditation-readiness initiatives.
Coordinate accreditation visits, peer-team interactions, audits, reviews, and related activities.
UGC / AICTE & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable UGC, AICTE, and other statutory/regulatory requirements.
Monitor changes in higher-education regulations and translate them into actionable institutional requirements.
Oversee regulatory documentation, reports, submissions, approvals, and renewals.
Coordinate statutory inspections, audits, approvals, permissions, and regulatory correspondence.
Ensure timely submission of mandatory reports and institutional data.
Identify compliance gaps and drive corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
University & Regulatory Liaison
Act as a senior point of contact with affiliated/partner universities and regulatory authorities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with universities, accreditation bodies, statutory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
Manage university-related processes including affiliations, approvals, examinations, academic calendars, and statutory requirements.
Coordinate with external stakeholders during inspections, audits, accreditation exercises, and regulatory reviews.
Represent Propel/institutional leadership in relevant academic and regulatory forums when required.
Multi-Campus Academic Operations
Provide academic governance and administrative oversight across multiple colleges/campuses.
Ensure consistency in academic policies, processes, documentation, and compliance standards.
Establish cross-campus reporting and monitoring mechanisms.
Identify operational and compliance gaps and drive improvements.
Travel across campuses and institutions as required to review academic administration and compliance.
Academic Records, Documentation & Reporting
Oversee the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of academic and statutory records.
Establish robust systems for maintaining regulatory, accreditation, academic, and governance documentation.
Review academic reports, compliance dashboards, institutional data, and supporting documentation.
Ensure institutional readiness for regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation exercises.
Maintain strong documentation and audit trails across campuses.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Partner with senior leadership, Principals, Deans, IQAC, academic heads, faculty, and administrative teams.
Build a strong culture of academic governance, compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
Lead, mentor, and develop academic administration and compliance teams.
Drive accountability for regulatory submissions, accreditation milestones, and academic governance initiatives.
Present key academic governance, accreditation, and compliance updates to senior management.
Required Experience
15+ years of relevant experience in higher education, academic administration, university administration, institutional governance, or a related field.
Experience in a senior academic administration role such as Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Associate Registrar, Dean – Administration, Director – Academic Administration, or equivalent.
Strong hands-on experience managing NAAC accreditation/re-accreditation cycles.
Demonstrated experience with UGC and AICTE regulations and compliance.
Experience working with universities, accreditation agencies, regulatory authorities, and statutory bodies.
Proven experience managing multi-campus or multi-institution academic administration.
Strong understanding of the Indian higher-education regulatory and accreditation ecosystem.
Experience leading cross-functional academic and administrative teams.
Educational Qualification
Master’s degree in Education, Management, Academic Administration, Social Sciences, or a relevant discipline.
PhD preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates with the following experience will be particularly relevant:
Successfully led multiple NAAC accreditation/re-accreditation cycles.
Managed academic administration across multiple colleges, universities, or campuses.
Strong working knowledge of UGC, AICTE, NAAC, IQAC, SSR, AQAR, and institutional quality-assurance frameworks.
Experience managing university affiliations, regulatory approvals, inspections, and statutory requirements.
Strong stakeholder relationships with universities, accreditation agencies, and regulatory bodies.
Experience building institutional processes for accreditation readiness and continuous quality improvement.
Proven ability to work with senior academic leadership and governing bodies.
