Role Description The Bioinformatician role at CSIR-CIMAP is a full-time, on-site position based in Kakori. The Bioinformatician will analyze high-throughput sequencing data from medicinal and aromatic plants, including DNA sequencing datasets, to support genomics, transcriptomics, and related projects. Daily tasks include designing and executing bioinformatics workflows, performing statistical and computational analyses, curating and managing biological datasets, and documenting methods and results in a clear, reproducible manner. The role involves close collaboration with molecular biologists, plant scientists, and chemists to interpret findings and contribute to publications, reports, and grant proposals. The Bioinformatician will also help maintain and improve bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and data management practices within the institute.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills with experience in Data Analysis and Statistics applied to biological or genomic datasets.
Hands-on experience in Sequencing data handling, quality control, and pipeline execution.
Demonstrated ability to conduct systematic Research, including experimental design support and scientific documentation.
Proficiency with bioinformatics tools, scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), and relevant databases for genomics and transcriptomics.
Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a closely related field.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and version control tools (e.g., Git) for reproducible research workflows.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with plant genomics or secondary metabolite research is an advantage.
