Role Description The General Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Siliguri, responsible for overseeing overall operations and ensuring that production, quality, and safety standards are met. This role includes managing departmental heads, coordinating daily production schedules, monitoring plant performance, and optimizing resource utilization. The General Manager will handle budgeting, cost control, and financial performance tracking, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing key performance indicators, resolving operational issues, guiding process improvements, and supporting workforce planning and development. The role also involves maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders, and reporting regularly to company leadership on operational and strategic matters.
Qualifications
Strong leadership, people management, and team-building abilities, with experience supervising cross-functional teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Operational management expertise, including production planning, process optimization, resource allocation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Sound understanding of financial management, budgeting, cost control, and performance metrics relevant to plant operations.
Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and environmental practices applicable to industrial or paper mill settings.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills for working with employees, suppliers, and customers.
Ability to analyze operational data, identify risks and opportunities, and make timely, data-informed decisions.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Prior experience in paper manufacturing or heavy process industries is highly beneficial, along with familiarity with modern industrial technologies and ERP or production management systems.
