Role Description The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is a full-time remote role responsible for defining and leading Collab Capital Fund’s overall security strategy across information, cyber, and physical security domains. This role oversees the design and implementation of security policies, standards, and controls to protect sensitive data, investment operations, and stakeholder information. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing security risks, coordinating incident response, managing security tools and vendors, and collaborating with technology, legal, compliance, and operations teams to ensure regulatory and contractual requirements are met. The CSO will monitor emerging threats, lead security awareness initiatives, and regularly report security posture, metrics, and improvement plans to senior leadership and the board. This position also guides security considerations in new investments, platforms, and internal projects to ensure a secure, scalable environment.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in information and cyber security leadership, including building and executing organization-wide security strategies.
Proficiency in risk assessment, security governance, and policy development, with the ability to align security controls to business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Hands-on experience with security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, and monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, identity and access management).
Knowledge of relevant security frameworks and standards (such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2) and experience guiding compliance or certification efforts.
Strong understanding of cloud security, data protection, encryption, and secure software or system design in modern technology environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex security topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to lead distributed teams, influence cross-functional partners, and operate effectively in a fully remote work setting.
Prior experience in financial services, venture capital, private equity, or a related regulated industry is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or recognized security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are a plus.
