Vice President of Technology Development

Role Description This full-time remote role of Vice President of Technology Development at AFRICAPITAL MANAGEMENT is responsible for leading the end-to-end technology innovation and delivery lifecycle. The role oversees research and development initiatives, guiding the conception, validation, and implementation of new technology solutions aligned with business strategy. The Vice President directs product development roadmaps, coordinates cross-functional project and program teams, and ensures timely execution against milestones and budgets. This role collaborates with senior leadership to define IT strategy, optimize technology investments, and establish standards for security, scalability, and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include prioritizing technology initiatives, mentoring technical leaders, managing vendor and partner relationships, and reporting on progress and outcomes to executive stakeholders.
Qualifications
Ability to lead Research and Development (R&D) initiatives, including evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation pipelines.
Strong Program Management experience, overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives, allocating resources, and managing risk and dependencies.
Proficiency in IT Strategy, including technology roadmapping, architecture planning, and aligning systems with organizational goals.
Demonstrated Product Development expertise, from concept and requirements definition through design, testing, and launch.
Solid Project Management skills, including planning, execution, stakeholder communication, and performance tracking.
Proven leadership experience in senior technology roles, with responsibility for teams, budgets, and complex technology portfolios.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a data-driven approach to prioritization and performance measurement.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams in a remote environment.
Experience in financial services, investment management, or related industries is beneficial.
Relevant advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
